Welcome to the Genki Japanese Society!

ゲンキ日本語研究会にようこそ!

^ Go to the News section for info on Genki Soc events ^

Who, or what, are we?!?

GJS (or Genki Soc) is the University of Reading's official Japanese society. We have a focus on helping people learn Japanese but we also cater for people just interested in learning about Japanese culture and people for whatever reason.

What does Genki Soc do?

We do weekly lessons for learners at the university and beginners as well as fun lessons and events every so often. For example we have a cooking event coming up where people can try their hand at cooking real Japanese food! Nice. We also plan to have Japanese speakers come in to talk about various things.

So all kinda serious stuff then?

Not really. Although not stated we are willing to do socials and our weekly 'workshop' is open for anyone to come to really get help with anything or just hang out if nothing much is going on. We just tend to have a focus on education to help out people who are studying Japanese in the university's language course (IWLP).

Membership?

Anyone can be a member for £5. Although anyone can come to the workshops for free, our extra lessons (fun lessons and events) will cost you unless you're a member. The fiver will last you the entire year.
